From JA Alumnus to Chief Executive Officer

[Jerry Forte Jr.]Jerry Forte Jr., is a JA alumnus and the CEO of a $1.5 billion company, Colorado Springs Utilities <http://bit.ly/1HKfrVC> .He shared with David Loose, president and CEO of JA of Southern Colorado <http://bit.ly/1gSn6O6> , how his JA experience impacted him."This experience gave me a jump start in business, and more importantly, helped me understand the need for healthy relations as a foundation for success in business," wrote Jerry. "Junior Achievement also gives young adults real leadership experience that cannot be learned from books alone." As a high school student, Jerry participated in JA activities for three years. He credits JA for helping him learn and practice the principles that characterize his business etiquette. Jerry remembered that he and other JA high school students "sold stock, bought raw materials, manufactured a product, sold the product, kept books, and paid the dividends to stockholders."After high school, Jerry earned his bachelor?s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado. After college, he worked in the utility industry. His focus now, as the CEO of Colorado Springs Utilities, is delivering reliable service, customer satisfaction, and low rates to the residents in and around Colorado Springs.
