"I am not kidding when I say JA taught me how to lead and showed me that I can make a difference in my community."The magazine featured 14 other people who are innovators, entrepreneurs, entertainers, etc. These emerging leaders were nominated by peers though a submission process. Then the top 15 were selected by an external committee of reputable leaders. At 23-years-old, Leon is a business management associate for General Mills."I credit a large part of my early career success with General Mills and in Northwest Arkansas to Junior Achievement," said Leon. "Thank you, thank you!"Leon?s advice to people who want to make an impact on their community is to identify your skillset, and use it at volunteer organizations that love the type of energy and passion you have to offer.Volunteering reminds Leon of what?s important to him. He remembers being inspired when his parents volunteered and enjoyed how they exercised their leadership skills in the community. Leon continued to describe his parents as the "catalysts" for his community involvement and volunteerism.
